You will know you have successfully added your account to the check when you can see your account name / handle displayed next to the corresponding platform icon and a green tick next to it.

Please ensure you have added ALL your accounts for all the platforms listed before submitting your check as once the check is submitted you cannot add any more accounts to the check.

As part of an Instagram update they released, they only allow candidates to complete checks (provide post information) against a creator or business Instagram account. If you wish to add your Instagram account to the check you will be asked to change your account to a creator account for the duration of the check.

Please see the attached guide outlining the steps required to make this account change. Please note you will need to allow your report to be generated before changing your account type back to a personal account.

This issue is occurring because Instagram is directing you to the app instead of directing you to sign in via the web browser, when it does this it loses the verification workflow required to add the account to the check.

We would advise that you first sign out of Instagram on the app or temporarily delete the app from your device to ensure the check connects through the browser and not the app. Then you can try logging in to your account via the web browser. Once signed in via the web browser, you can open the social media check and click the Instagram platform icon in the check screen. This will automatically link the signed in account to the check and you will see a green tick and your account name on the check to show the account has linked to the check successfully.

Alternatively, you can try adding the account to the check on a device where they are not signed in to the Instagram app before starting the check.

If you receive an ‘Error 400’ message when trying to add the account this will likely be because your future activity setting is set as ‘disconnected’ or that your Facebook and Instagram accounts are linked, you should be able to resolve this by changing a setting on your profile and trying again. You can see how to do this in the attached ‘Error 400’ document.

Please open a browser window and independently log in to Instagram first. You may need to log out then back in again. Once logged in then start the Social Media Check Consent process.

Please sign in to your X account FIRST using the device browser, once successfully signed into your X account (in a browser tab not the app) you can then go to the Social Media Check screen to add your account by clicking the X platform icon and this should automatically link the signed in account to the check. Note this works best when the browser is not in private / incognito mode and no VPN is enabled.
